Leatherman Tread: Forget About Your Swiss Army Knife, The New Leatherman Tool Is Here
|Leatherman Tool Group revealed earlier this year that it would be releasing a revolutionary product in the industry this summer. The Leatherman Tread wearable tool is now available in retail and online stores and is surely the current ultimate in wearable hardware. We’re talking about a wearable multi tasking oriented mega tool that you’ll be able to wear on your wrist as a bracelet.
The Leatherman Tread and literally gives you the functionality of a Leatherman tool, which you can take with you everywhere. Tread features multiple tools in each 17-4 stainless steel bracelet link, making usable tools like Allen wrenches, screwdrivers and box wrenches available at a moment’s notice.
The Leatherman Tread bracelet is adjustable to ¼” to accommodate any wrist size and fully customizable with the links you need most. The multi-tool company has stated that it will use corrosion resistant 17-4 stainless steel in the production to create a robust and versataile tool that will also be afashion statement.
Each piece of the bracelet will be consisted out of two or three highly functional tools, which brings us to a total of 25 practical elements.
The Idea For Leatherman Tread is Born
The idea for the interesting and innovative Leatherman Tread was born when Leatherman Tool president Ben Rivera tried to pass through the security officers at Disneyland with his Skeletool. Yes Disneyland. Security officers thought that he was wearing a knife and insisted that he leave it at the gate.
Rivera was convinced that there must be a way to wear all of the tools you need in a manner that will not draw attention. The first prototype of the Tread bracelet was actually made out of a bike chain. This gave Rivera enough insight in how would it feel to wear a fully equipped tool bracelet on your wrist.
It didn’t take long for the engineering team to transfer this idea into reality. The whole bracelet is the representation of strength and intensity. On top of that it’s also highly customizable, allowing users to adjust it to their wrist’s width and rearrange the order or inclusion of tools.
The fact that the clasp is a bottle opener and a square drive at the same time only shows how functional the Leatherman Tread bracelet is. Some of the other tools that you’ll be able to use include: hex drives, box wrenches, cutting hook, screwdrivers and a single carbide glass breaker.
While the bracelet may sound almost too good to be true, the company will also release a model of the Tread bracelet that will include a watch as well. Adding a compass would make this the ultimate outdoors gadget of all time wouldnt it?
