Mercedes Benz isn’t just sleeping on its laurels from past successes. The renowned automaker is already investing heavily in the future of cars and other modes of transportation. But the German powerhouse isn’t stopping there, after already having produced self driving commercial trucks, Mercedes has turned its focus on making automated buses for city transportation. The result is the Mercedes Benz Future Bus, a semi-automated city bus with a trailblazing design to boot.
As mentioned above, Mercedes has already produced the Actros truck, an autonomous self driving vehicle, that was introduced back in 2015 and has performed better than anyone could have expected.
Mercedes Benz Future Bus: The Future of Urban Mass Transportation?
Having championed more efficient heavy duty transportation, the company has now unveiled its latest innovation in the Mercedes Benz Future Bus. This new semi automated bus which uses CityPilot, a special technology implemented to be used in cities and dense areas, operates at a very high efficiency and offers even more safety and comfort than regular, conventional buses.
The CityPilot technology is based upon the 2014 Mercedes Highway Pilot prototype, which was also used for the Mercedes’s Actros truck. It has camera and radar systems which allow it to detect and recognize traffic lights and signs communicate with them accordingly and safely traverse the city roads and junctions.
The Mercedes Benz Future Bus is fitted with just under a dozen cameras, front and back, which are constantly scanning the bus’s surroundings, and also has a GPS system which helps it navigate. Thanks to its connectivity and data fusion, all of these systems work flawlessly.
The result is a precise machine which is able to operate within small spaces. This state of the art bus has already showed its potential in practice, by navigating a route of Videos Porno almost 20 km, traversing tunnels sharp turns, tight bends and many bus stops.
Now that the bus has proven its worth in the real world environment, and now the team at Mercedes Benz is working to improve the model further and make it foolproof. The current version of this futuristic prototype bus has a maximum speed of 70 km/h on the open road.
The bus is able to recognize any obstacles that it may encounter and opens and closes its doors automatically when it reaches the designated bus stop.
Semi-Automated for Efficiency
The semi automated Mercedes Benz Future Bus doesn’t demand much of the driver; he doesn’t have to operate the brake or the accelerator, and only has to take control of the wheel when there is oncoming traffic. This is beneficial because it relieves the driver of his workload, as he only has to take complete control if there is an immediate threat. The semi automated system also helps lower fuel consumption and emissions as the bus’s timing and precision in driving improve its reactions with the surroundings.
As for the interior, the bus is equipped Videos Eroticos with wireless smartphone chargers and large monitors which show the designated bus route. The designers at Mercedes Benz have added that the interior is divided into three zones, based on the passengers length of stay, and that this is done to provide a smoother and more enjoyable travel experience.
According to Daimler, Mercedes Benz’s parent company, the truck is set to enter mass production in the early years of the next decade. This design is possibly the solution which will help solve traffic problems in densely populated areas. The Mercedes Benz Future Bus operates with a high efficiency rate, improves the safety of passengers significantly by removing the possibility of human error and makes the driver’s job easier to do. The future of transportation is close, and Mercedes Benz surely seems to be on the forefront.
